I am probably the only one who saw the incredible Transcendent Man movie and thought about QuickBooks and Xero.
Yesterday’s Million Robots Replace Cheap Humans story strongly reinforced my Transcendent Man, QuickBooks and Xero thoughts. Further strong Transcendent Man, QuickBooks and Xero reinforcement came when my wife said, “We need to text …” (our grandson) “… to talk to him.” That recalled the Amazing Mobile Revolution.
Transcendent Man is about Ray Kurzweil, the greatest inventor since Edison. He decided to be an inventor at age 5. At 17, he was on TV with the first music-composing computer. His many firsts include a student – college matching program, omni-font optical character recognition (OCR), a flatbed scanner, a text to speech synthesizer (vital for the blind, dyslexics and ADD sufferers), a speech to text program, professional music synthesizers and speech recognition.
Transcendent Man relates to our real future, which often seems like fiction. Computers revolutionize our future by initially doubling capacity every two years, while cutting costs. Kurzweil’s Law of Accelerating Returns shows combined human - computer power keeps increasing faster. It explains the Tech Explosion, which shows we now double computer power in 9 months.
Kurzweil says we will each soon have a thousand computers, including eyeglass computers and computer augmented brains. Vastly better diets and medicine will include individual gene therapy and computer generated replacement body parts. This should let us live 150 years, before transferring our memories to new bodies.
Why did Transcendent Man make me think of QuickBooks and Xero, much less my grandson's Amazng Mobile Revolution?
Even if Transcendent Man (or my grandson) had QuickBooks on millions of computer chips, why waste time on QuickBooks entries if Xero automates them?
Why wait years for Transcendent Man if Xero now automates QuickBooks?
Why learn complex program like QuickBooks, which all but insure errors, if Xero is ridiculously simple and never has errors?
Why even learn Xero, if we can do the little you need very inexpensively?
Why use programs the Amazing Mobile Revolution generation will not use?
