Roosevelt: collective bargaining cannot apply to public service

Filed in Accounting, Business by on January 3, 2011

Roosevelt ¬†wrote, “All government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service.”

Unions now have average federal employees earning more than twice what average private sector employees make, counting pensions and fringe benefits. Therefore, one of the best ways to cut unemployment and deficits is to fire government employees and their unions. The private sector will quickly provide more jobs once this lets government stop running massive deficits. Of course, one of the best ways to keep unemployment high is to pay people to remain unemployed for almost two years, which is what we have been doing.
